The theme for the
2015 event is ‘Reshoring’, a trend that the GTMA says it’s keen to fully
support. The association has established the Reshoring UK initiative whereby
its members provide the engineering supply chain into the leading industry
sectors.
“We have seen
countless examples of firms coming to the rescue of UK businesses that have
been hit by quality issues, lead times on delivery and poor communications as
well as rising costs due to exchange rates and foreign companies having to
contend with rising demands of their home markets,” said Julia Moore, chief
executive, GTMA.
GTMA’s engineering
supply chain supports reshoring to the UK and seeks to assist OEMs and tier
ones to source reliable, innovative UK companies that can provide not only
quality products, but also support their products and services with the
technical advice so essential for the technological demands facing industry
today.
“However, we must
also make the UK a competitive place to invest, to capitalise on the latest
positive indicators,” Ms Moore added.
Over 35 GTMA
member companies will be exhibiting at the event, including tool makers, rapid
prototype and precision machining companies, as well as the all- important
technical supporting services of leading metrology, software and cutting
tool/workholding suppliers.
Guest Speakers
will include Peter Barker, head of manufacturing at Cosworth and Chris Wilson,
managing director of Messier-Dowty.
The Manufacturing
UK event will be held in Mazak’s new European Technical Centre, which houses the
latest innovations in high performance machining technology. Guided tours of
the machine tool maker’s production and assembly facilities will also be
arranged on the day, with further opportunities to see demonstrations of all of
the company’s machine tools running in the Technical Centre.
Lloyds Bank
Commercial Banking has teamed up with the GTMA to help its members maximise
growth amid the continuing economic recovery, while providing guidance to business
owners at the event.
