A Kansas Edge Reshoring Conference will be held next month to discuss resources to help manufacturers bring work back to the U.S.
The Kansas Department of Commerce is hosting the conference, which highlights how Kansas is well positioned to capture opportunities to bring jobs back to the U.S., according to a news release from the department.
The discussion will focus on potential areas of growth and outline opportunities and resources available for small and medium-size businesses, it said.
Kansas business leaders who have had success in bringing manufacturing work back from other countries will make presentations at the conference.
Gov. Sam Brownback will introduce new state resources that will be available to promote Kansas businesses that can help companies nationwide with their reshoring needs.
Reshoring Initiative founder Harry Moser will give information about trends and opportunities and how to be successful.
Robert Crain, senior vice president and general manager of AGCO, will give an overview of his company’s efforts to reshore production.
John Tomblin, vice president for research and technology transfer at Wichita State University, will discuss the Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership.
And representatives from JR Custom Metal, Lee Aerospace and GTM Sportswear will take part in a roundtable discussion.
The conference will be held Thursday, Sept. 25, at WSU’s Hughes Metropolitan Complex, 5015 E. 29th St. North.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the event ends at 11:45 a.m.
