QTS, which provides wire mesh-based material for the logistics industry, will relocate to a 50,000 sq ft site in Nottinghamshire in August 2015.
In the next year, it also hopes to boost its 11-strong workforce to 26 staff and increase turnover to £5m from £2m.
“The rise of online shopping and the need to provide flexibility for warehouses and distribution centres had driven significant demand for our products,” said managing director Shaun Ingram.
“Traditionally, we’d imported around 95 per cent of our product in complete form from China, yet had noticed a desire from our customers to decrease the turnaround time for installations of solutions.
“The decision was taken to create our own manufacturing plant in the East Midlands, starting first with assembly and then followed by full scale production for our solutions.”
QTS was supported by Business Growth Service’s Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) and ReshoreUK.
Ingram also revealed the company is in talks with the Regional Growth Fund (RGF) to help fund the move.
