Reshoring Initiative 2025 Annual Report: Reshoring and FDI Hold Firm at 247,000 Manufacturing Jobs
The Reshoring Initiative's 2025 Annual Report counts about 247,000 U.S. manufacturing jobs announced through reshoring and foreign direct investment in 2025, essentially matching 2024. More than 2.3 million jobs have been announced since 2010, including more than 1.3 million in the past five years. Transportation equipment led 2025 job announcements, and the report puts high- and medium-high-technology products at 90% of announced jobs, the highest share recorded.
Based on first-half 2026 data, the Reshoring Initiative projects roughly 309,000 announced jobs for 2026, about 25% more than 2025, and says a further surge in July through September suggests the total could reach 400,000. The report also finds that of 64 conditional announcements identified in 2025, 14 had converted partially or fully into confirmed projects by mid-2026, and that further investment depends partly on stable tariff and industrial policy.
