Some companies bring back overseas jobs – WHBY

An out-of-state non-profit group says more Wisconsin companies are leaving China, and other countries, and moving jobs back to the state.

The Reshoring Initiative says labor costs and other issues are behind the change.

The leader of a local economic development group says he’s not seeing the same trend. Larry Burkhardt is the executive vice president of the Fox Cities Regional Partnership. He says it might be more of a trickle, than a steady stream right now.

Burkhardt says a move like that is expensive, and it’s not an easy decision to make. He says the state’s corporate tax climate is improving, and that helps.

Burkhardt says corporate taxes for manufacturers are on track to be virtually nothing by 2017.
