When Irving Glickman founded The Rodon Group in 1956, the manufacturer had only 4 presses and less than 5,000 square feet of facility space. As the company celebrates its 65th anniversary this year, Rodon is now one of the largest family-owned and operated plastic injection molders in the United States, boasting 128 injection molding presses, 250,000 square feet of manufacturing space, and a robot at every press.

What’s the secret to the company’s growth and enduring success?

Since its founding, says CEO Joel Glickman, son of founder Irving Glickman, The Rodon Group has remained steadfastly focused on four key values. “Treat employees well, give customers a fair price, re-invest profits in the best people and equipment available, and never, ever, be a problem for the customer,” he explains.

“By following these precepts, we’ve been rewarded by having an extremely high level of worker retention,” adds Michael Araten, president of The Rodon Group and son-in-law of Joel Glickman, “including fathers and sons, husbands and wives, and now, a third generation employee whose grandfather was the very first Rodon employee! We’re honored to have such loyal and trusting employees.”

Looking to the future of the third-generation family business, the Rodon team is eager to add to its proprietary line of window and door products. As the construction industry regains momentum following pandemic-related slowdowns, they anticipate an imminent increase in sales of SillDry, the patented window protection line that Joel co-invented.

The team also expects recent increases in reshoring efforts will lead to a boom in U.S. manufacturing. “In light of recent international developments, more U.S.-based companies will realize the increasing risks and otherwise hidden costs of overseas sourcing,” says Robert Jay Glickman, vice chairman of Sterling Drive Ventures, L.P. and son of founder Irving Glickman. “But we’ve believed in and focused on American manufacturing since our founding. We are active members of the organization American Made Matters and the Made in America Movement, both of which educate consumers about buying U.S.-made products to help strengthen the American Dream.”
