OTTAWA — Justin Trudeau is promising the Liberals will role out a “robust, solid” platform by 2015.
Trudeau said Wednesday he needed time to engage with Canadians “to develop solutions to problems” before fleshing out the party’s policies.
“We put out ideas. They generate feedback. We continue to build with Canadians the kinds of solutions and future that they expect,” the rookie Liberal leader said when reporters repeatedly pressed him on why his party has so far failed to offer concrete policy proposals beyond pot legalization.
“I’m not going to shortcut that process — which is a serious and responsible process — just because people want to know right now and they’re impatient,” Trudeau said.
Trudeau is in P.E.I. meeting with his caucus for its annual summer retreat.
The Liberal leader said the party would be focusing developing policies on shoring up the middle class, youth employment and government transparency and openness.
