Attorney General’s Office ‘provided no advice’ on will
The Attorney General’s Office said they were contacted by the solicitors of Joan Edwards, who left £520,000 to the government in her will, but they provided no advice on how to donate the money, or where it should go. In a statement to ITV News, a spokesman for the Attorney General’s Office said:
The executors of Miss Edwards’ estate contacted the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) about her bequest but the Attorney provided no advice on this matter.
The Treasury Solicitors replied on behalf of the AGO setting out further steps the executors wish to take to identify the correct recipient of the bequest.
It did not, nor could have, advised to whom the bequest should go.
